Article I – Name
The association shall be known as the San José Woodworkers Association (herein referred to as SJWA); a non-profit woodworking organization of members in good standing.
Article II – Purpose
It is the purpose of the SJWA to operate as a woodworking club for use and enjoyment of its members and guests, and to promote all forms of woodworking. The club shall maintain an attitude of strictly non-sectarian, non-partisan, non-racial and shall be dedicated to bringing people together interested in woodworking, tools, and finishing wood products and to promote these interests using verbal and visual communication.
Article III – Membership
Membership is limited to anyone interested in woodworking in any form.
Article IV – Dues
Dues are collected annually during the first two months (January and February) of the calendar year. The amount (currently $35 per year) is subject to change, which shall be discussed in the January meeting by all members present. A simple majority vote can agree to a new amount for the annual dues to be collected by the treasurer. Any new member joining after the June meeting, can join for half the current agreed upon amount for that calendar year.
Article V – Meetings
Meetings shall be held on the fourth Thursday of the month, excluding November and December, which shall be a combined meeting usually at the beginning of December.
Article VI – Officers
Officers of this club shall be President, Vice President, and Treasurer.
Article VII – Officer Duties
President: Preside at all meetings; sends out information on the meetings (time and place) and any pertinent information regarding the meetings. Vice President: Conduct the meetings in the absence of the President. Treasurer: Collect dues and fees and pays all bills authorized for club activities. Present a monthly account statement.
Article VIII –Voting
Each member in good standing shall have one vote for officer elections conducted at the January meeting. Each member has one vote on issues that affect the club, such as purchasing items for the club, and/or spending club money for events.
